HELLO!

I'm Erin Simmons, Artist and Gallery Owner of SCRAMBLED! located in the quaint artist community of New Hope, PA. along the Delaware River Valley.  I am originally from the majestic Hudson Valley where I grew up in artistic family, my mother being a stained glass artist and my father being an oil painter.

I started my art journey at 5 when I sold a stick drawing for a quarter and the buyer handed me a dollar and told me to keep the change.  Although I accompanied my mom to craft fairs through the 80s, and assisted my aunt occasionally at a guild run handmade Co-op,  I didn't get into creating art again until I was in my 20s.

One day, daydreaming in a college class I thought about the buckets of scrap glass my mom had been tossing away for years.  I came home that day from class, grabbed some mirror and soldered scrap glass around the mirror, making a whimsical mirror that looked like it jumped out of a storybook.  Throughout the rest of my college days I operated my own stained glass business, along side my mom's business.  My work was sold in 16 handmade shops along the east coast, until I graduated and started working in my field.

For 15 years I dabbled occasionally in stained glass, but my work in the not for profit world took up most of my time.  About  8 years ago I discovered Eggshell mosaic art and put my own spin on the craft. I found making these pieces helped to quiet my mind of the stresses of the day and art started to become my therapy.  The mosaics were assembled much like my stained glass creations had been, but on a much smaller scale.  The inks I used had the vibrancy of  sun backed stained glass, and I began experimenting and teaching myself how to move the inks into landscapes and abstracts .... and abstract-ish landscapes.

Daydreaming came into play again in my life when during a daydreaming/procrastination moment I came across a wonderful opportunity to have my own Gallery.  I wanted this  so much I threw caution to the wind and jumped head first into what is now; SCRAMBLED! Gallery of Gifts.  It is part gallery and part gift shop. My little 300 sqft shop represents the work of over 12 artists/makers.  All artists are local to either New Hope or my hometown.  For many it's their first time selling their items in a brick and mortar. I am very proud to be able to give artists a venue to display and sell their art.  SCRAMBLED! Gallery of Gifts can be found easily by googling, but we are located at 39 W.Bridge Street, New Hope, PA. We are the little shop with big heART.  Currently we are open on weekends.  I hope you make time to visit! It's an amazing town that you can easily make an entire weekend trip.  If you are really lucky you might even visit us on a day when I am serving up complimentary hot mulled cider or refreshing sangria.

Thank you for visiting my website.
